Description | Musa textilis ‘Abaca’ (10.18730/9J98W) is an important industrial crop cultivated mainly in Philippines, Ecuador and Costa Rica (TT, belongs to section Australimusa). Abaca fibers are considered as one of the strongest among natural fibers, a highly valued agro-based biodegradable material with superior mechanical properties, and nowadays are extensively applied to textile, paper products and multiple automotive products. The basic chromosome number is x=10 (2n=2x=20). This genome assembly was generated by integrating PacBio CLR, Illumina and Hi-C sequencing techniques.
