M. beccarii
Genus
Musa
Species
beccarii
Description

Musa beccarii, endemic to Borneo, is the only species in the Musa genus, including the economically important bananas and plantains, with a basic chromosome number of x=9 (2n=2x=18), while other Musa species are x=7, 10, 11.

M. beccarii genome was assembled by long read and Hi-C sequencing, with  gene annotations using both long Iso-Seq and short RNA-seq reads.

The genome sequencing of this species is the result of the collaboration between SCBG CAS, University of Leicester, CIRAD and the Alliance of Bioversity International-CIAT.
